RCMP in Thompson Make Dent in Drug Trade

RCMP Logo VehicleRCMP in Thompson, Manitoba executed two search warrants in the community this week, resulting in the seizure of several drugs.

Police say an 18-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday during a search of a home on Wolf Street.

Officers seized 18 grams of cocaine, more than 300 grams of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia, and a quantity of Canadian currency.

The next day, a home on Red River Drive was searched, leading officers to another 26 grams of cocaine, 280 grams of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia.

A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody.

Both suspects are facing numerous drug-related charges.

“Since early November, the RCMP have executed 15 separate search warrants in Thompson,” said Inspector Kevin Lewis, officer in charge of the Thompson RCMP.

“We have removed over 1500 grams of cocaine, over 2700 grams of marijuana, and approximately 28 grams of cannabis resin from the community. In addition, 18 people have been charged with various drug offences.”
