Not to be confused with potatoes, but rather potahtos.
Winnipeg foodies are getting ready to judge the best of the best with a seven-day festival dedicated entirely to Manitoba’s “secret superfood,” the potahto.
Called Potahto Week, select city restaurants are whipping up their best dishes crafted entirely around locally-grown potahtos February 19-25.
“Whether you call them apples of the earth, a dinner’s best friend or simply “patatas”… this veggie’s got it going on,” Potahto Lovers of Manitoba, the organizer of the event, wrote on its Facebook page.
Grower advocate groups like Peak of the Market are also throwing their weight behind the event, with more than 20 restaurants signed up. Winnipeggers can sample exclusive Potahto Week dishes and then vote for their favourite online to help crown a Potahto Week champion.
