Winnipeg Police CrestWINNIPEG — The suspect in a road rage incident last month near the Centennial Concert Hall has turned himself into police.

Justin Peter Karpluk of West St. Paul surrendered to police on Monday.

The 20-year-old is accused of punching a 63-year-old man on January 6 just before midnight. Police say the victim was leaving the venue and attempting to get into the rear seat of an SUV when a white Mercedes Benz was trying to merge through traffic from behind. A man got out of the Mercedes and struck the victim in the upper body.

He was taken to hospital and was awaiting surgery for his injuries.

Karpluk has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with a probation order.

He remains in custody.
