A 57-year-old Winnipeg man was killed Sunday when the SUV he was driving collided head-on with a pickup in the RM of St. Andrews.
RCMP say his vehicle was attempting to pass a pick-up truck on Highway 9 at Bowser Road when the collision occurred at around 1:15 p.m.
The 40-year-old man driving the southbound truck was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. It’s not known if he was wearing his seatbelt.
Police say the vehicle that was being passed was hit by debris and forced to the side of the road.
The driver of the SUV wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Alcohol isn’t believed to be a factor.
Selkirk RCMP continue to investigate the crash.
