WINNIPEG — It’s all on the line for the University of Manitoba Bisons volleyball teams this weekend.
Manitoba is preparing to host its final 2017-18 Canada West regular season series against the visiting UBC Okanagan on Friday and Sunday.
The Bison women (11-11) are pushing to secure a playoff spot after missing the post-season last year and are tied for seventh place in Canada West conference standings. UBC Okanagan is No. 1 in U SPORTS with 18-4 record and second in Canada West.
On the men’s side, the Herd (9-13) will try to clinch the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and sit tied for eighth. UBC Okanagan has a 5-17 record and sits in the 11th spot heading into the weekend.
Game time on Friday is 6 p.m. (women) and 7:45 p.m. (men). Both teams battle it out again on Saturday at 5 p.m. (men) and 6:45 p.m. (women). All games are held at Investors Group Athletic Centre.
Men’s hockey enters playoffs
Next door at Wayne Fleming Arena, the Bison men’s hockey team (16-10-2) enters the Canada West Quarter-final best-of-three playoff series against the visiting Mount Royal Cougars (10-14-2). The action begins Friday at 7 p.m. with a second game Saturday at 7 p.m. If necessary, both teams will meet again on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Men’s basketball on the road
Manitoba travels to play the No. 4 UBC Thunderbirds (17-3) in Canada West Quarter-final best-of-three playoff beginning today through Saturday. The Bisons finished the regular conference season with a 12-8 record and will enter the playoffs for the third consecutive season. Game time is tonight and Friday at 6 p.m. CT and Saturday (if necessary) at 5 p.m. CT.
