MEXIA InteractiveWINNIPEG — A local company specializing in facial recognition solutions will showcase its technology to a global audience next week in Barcelona.

MEXIA Interactive is appearing at Mobile World Congress, where more than 108,000 attendees from over 170 countries are gathering to share and learn about the latest technologies impacting the world.

MEXIA has built on its previous technology of airport people-tracking to deploy an enhanced path to event entry based on facial recognition patterns.

“Proven and accurate facial recognition is the future of seamless and stress-free event access, airport travel and more,” said Glenn Tinley, president of MEXIA.

“The system we are showcasing at this year’s Mobile World Congress will demonstrate that facial recognition as part of a well-deployed system can provide secure and fast access into events. Overall this will help to enhance the attendee experience and can be used as a basis for reducing queues at events or in airports.”

To show its technology in a real-world setting, MEXIA will be setting up cameras at the event above individual access lanes at multiple entrances. Participants will be matched with a previously supplied image pulled from a secure database once they walk toward the doorway.

Mobile World Congress runs February 26 to March 1.
