Man Stabbed During Botched Convenience Store Robbery

Winnipeg Police CrestA man who tried to stop a robbery at a Winnipeg convenience store was stabbed Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the 100 block of Isabel Street at around 8:40 p.m. and found the 38-year-old victim had been stabbed in the upper body. He remains in hospital.

Police say the suspect was asked to leave the store by an employee due to a previous encounter. He grabbed two drinks and tried to run out when a customer intervened. Police say the customer tried to hold the suspect, but was stabbed by another person.

Both suspects fled on foot, but the K-9 unit was able to track down one of them nearby.

Ermiyas Isaac Dangerfield, 20, of Winnipeg, faces several charges.

The store employee noted the same suspect was responsible for a theft at the store on February 22.
