A full-patch outlaw motorcycle gang member of the Suicide Crew has been charged after nearly clipping an RCMP officer conducting a traffic stop last weekend.

Manitoba RCMP say the officer was standing beside a vehicle he had pulled over on the Perimeter Highway when a vehicle zoomed by and almost hit him.

The incident happened March 17 at around 11:35 p.m., forcing police to chase down the suspect and make an arrest for impaired driving. Police also say the vehicle was being driven erratically before pulling it over.

While at the detachment, the suspect refused to provide a breath sample, uttered threats and became combative.

Stephen McInnis, 46 of Calgary, faces numerous charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer. He remains in custody and was to appear in Winnipeg court later today.
