It’s a pretty big deal to capture a national women’s hockey championship. Doing it for the first time in the program’s history? Even bigger.

To celebrate the accomplishments this season of the University of Manitoba Bisons, a celebratory breakfast will be held Friday in UMSU University Centre.

From 8-10 a.m., fans are encouraged to wear brown and gold to join the action and get a plate of pancakes.

Mascot Billy will be on site, along with UMFM’s Trevor “Teebz” Alexander and 103.1 Virgin Radio’s Ace Burpee Show.

On Thursday, the Bisons were honoured at the Manitoba legislature by Premier Brian Pallister and Sport, Culture and Heritage Minister Cathy Cox.

On Sunday, the Winnipeg Jets will honour the team during their game against the visiting Nashville Predators at 6 p.m.

Mayor Brian Bowman will recognize the team during a ceremony at City Hall on Wednesday, April 4 from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
