A Brandon police cruiser was struck by a wayward tire off a passing truck Sunday morning along the Trans-Canada Highway.

Police say one of their officers called for assistance after their cruiser suffered a flat tire on a service road adjacent to the highway. When a second police unit responded and parked, a rear tire from a passing truck came loose from the south side service road and bounced across the ditch, the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway, and hit the responding police vehicle as it was parked.

Police announced the unusual encounter Monday with the title, “In the Strange, But True Category.”

Damage was caused to the driver’s side front fender during the mishap. No injuries were reported.
