Winnipeg police want female drivers to be alert to a scam where a man flags them down while on the road.
Police say they have received reports of a man who alerts female drivers to pull over to address a mechanical problem with their vehicle. The man tells them he is a mechanic and can repair their vehicle on the spot for a sum of money.
Police say some drivers who declined took their vehicle to a certified mechanic and verified there wasn’t a mechanical issue.
Drivers are urged to be cautious of anyone not known to them trying to get them to stop.
“If you feel you require mechanical assistance, contact a towing company or mechanical shop,” police said in a release.
