Two Charged in String of Armed Winnipeg Robberies

Winnipeg Police CrestTwo people have been charged in 12 armed robberies over the past two months in Winnipeg.

The latest occurred Tuesday night when police responded to an alarm in the first 100 block of St. Anne’s Road. An employee said a man came in with a handgun and demanded money.

He fled in a vehicle, which police later located in the area of St. Mary’s Road and Sherwood Place. One suspect fled, but the female driver was arrested.

Officers tracked down the first suspect a short time later in the 100 block of Sunset Boulevard. They also recovered the firearm used in the robbery, along with the stolen cash.

Julie Penner, 27, and Craig Dorland Robert Hall, 31, have been charged with several robbery and weapons-related charges. They remain in custody.
