Winnipeg restaurants deer + almond and Segovia are celebrating coveted spots on a list of the top 100 best restaurants in Canada.

The Princess Street eatery was named 75th by a panel of 97 national judges, including chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, gourmets and industry leaders. The Stradbrook Avenue establishment came in at 46th.

“Building community has always been my passion and I love how food brings people together. I am beyond grateful for the support we’ve seen from Winnipeg and from those who visit our city,” said deer + almond founder and head chef Mandel Hitzer.

“Seeing people gather in our restaurant, enjoy food and spend time together is so rewarding for us. I am so proud of the team at deer + almond who consistently exceed my expectations with their creativity and their work ethic.”

Segovia, run by co-owners Adam Donnelly and Carolina Konrad, is a 40-odd-seat restaurant “bringing the tastes of Spain, along with some contemporary flair, to the prairies,” according to the ranking.
