A friendly wager between Tourism Winnipeg and its Minnesota counterpart saw a Twitter takeover on Wednesday, as followers of @SaintPaul were educated on all the cool ways those living in Minneapolis-St. Paul can experience Winnipeg.
It all began when the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild found themselves facing off in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. As you already know, Winnipeg won the series last Friday in a 5-0 shutout at Bell MTS Place.
Prior to the big win, it all started when Visit Saint Paul opened up the floodgates to a wager suggestion from Tourism Winnipeg.
Oh snap, yes! We’ve got the @NHLJets taking it 4-1 (@mnwild will win a home game b/c we are accommodating like that).
How about loser has to allow a one-hour twitter takeover… along with a fine selection of local beers? pic.twitter.com/nKphdLytRq— Tourism Winnipeg (@TourismWPG) April 11, 2018
The reigns of St. Paul’s tourism account were handed over for one hour on Wednesday, where Tourism Winnipeg sent a series of tweets highlighting some of the city’s best attractions, festivals and all around goodness.
Welcome to all of our new Canadian friends here for the #onlyinthepeg takeover!#MYSAINTPAUL-ites, we promise we’ll come back for you.

.@TourismWPG here! One of the many great things about Saint Paul is that it is relatively close to the world-class city of #Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. That place is so magical you’d swear it was the setting for a @jk_rowling book.
Like, just look at this place! Magnificent. pic.twitter.com/aEGYCUNufN

And speaking of #Winnipeg, did you know that it is the home of @CMHR_News, one of the most powerful and architecturally stunning museums in the world? And get this, at @assiniboinezoo polar bears swim right over your head! Love that place! #onlyinthepeg pic.twitter.com/WcpRBy7Rgz

Do you like festivals? Of course you do!
DYK no one gets more festive than #Winnipeg, where great summer festivals include @Winnipegfolk @jazzwinnipeg @WinnipegFringe @PrideWinnipeg @manitoahbee & @Folklorama
We tell you, those Canadians can party! pic.twitter.com/Xqo6Jqg5xn— Visit Saint Paul (@SaintPaul) April 25, 2018
Winnipeg is so bada** that it turned down Chuck Norris as its prom date—twice—in high school (roundhouse kicks don’t impress Canadians). It’s also a very friendly city with awesome restaurants, great local breweries, & numerous verdant parks ? https://t.co/GcjxrJ8jv2 pic.twitter.com/p6YNXywA0C

The tweet storm ended with a hat tip to passionate Jets fans and the size of the playoff crowds gathering for Winnipeg Whiteout street parties. In a not-so-subtle show of hockey pride, the account put money on Winnipeg winning the Stanley Cup. Go Jets Go!
While we could probably tweet all day about how perfect Winnipeg is for your next family vacation, you should probably just follow @TourismWPG. Oh, and our money is on the @NHLJets winning the Cup. Have you seen the crowds they are getting up there!?!? Amazing! #GoJetsGo pic.twitter.com/LnrfrFbPdM
