Brandon Police Service CrestA man who kept Brandon police at bay for several hours during an intense standoff on Monday and Tuesday has been arrested.

Police say the 43-year-old man barricaded himself in a home in the 1500 block of Louise Avenue while officers were investigating a complaint of someone uttering threats.

The man was holding a knife and threatened to use a chainsaw if police moved in. Eventually, officers negotiated with the man and were able to take him to the hospital. He was released Thursday afternoon and taken into custody on charges of uttering threats and weapon possession.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
