WINNIPEG — Local students can apply for one of 1,700 jobs being offered by the federal government this summer.

Through its Canada Summer Jobs program, students will be able to gain new skills and valuable work experience while saving money for the school year ahead.

The government announced Tuesday in Winnipeg funding for the new positions, which employ students aged 15 to 30.

“Students are able to develop their skills and gain valuable workplace experience while earning money for their tuition, employers benefit from new energy and ideas, and our economy thrives by ensuring a healthy middle class,” said Winnipeg South Centre MP Jim Carr.

Since 2015, nearly 70,000 students per year have found employment through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Employers that have been approved for summer jobs funding can be found at Canada.ca/Canada-Summer-Jobs.
