Economic Development Winnipeg and True North Sports + Entertainment have made slight changes to how tickets are obtained to Sunday’s Winnipeg Whiteout Street Party.

Organizers released 37,500 tickets for the party on Thursday afternoon. Unlike before, tickets won’t only be available on Ticketmaster’s website, but in-person at the Bell MTS Place box office (Portage and Donald), which True North has allocated 5,400 for walk-ups. Tickets will also be available at the gates — opening at noon.

“The decision to keep the street party a ticketed event was made to satisfy the safety concerns of the City of Winnipeg’s Special Events Committee (SEC), which True North has been a part of,” a news release said.

For those who order their tickets online, four per account will be permitted. Street capacity remains at 27,000 people as fans look to cheer on the Winnipeg Jets in Game 5 of the Western Conference final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Winnipeg Jets seat holders don’t need to secure separate street party tickets, as their game ticket already provides free access. Puck drop is at 2 p.m.
