Winnipeg police arrived in time to break up a fight before it began in downtown Friday night.
Police descended in the area of Graham Avenue and Hargrave Street at around 11 p.m. where a group of people were on the verge of a physical confrontation.
Police used their vehicle’s air horn to break up the group, when one male yelled out that he had a gun pointed at him earlier.
Police found the suspect to be holding a small crowbar and what appeared to be a firearm sticking out of his pocket.
Officers seized the imitation firearm and also found numerous stolen identification cards in various names.
The suspect gave police a fake name, but he was later identified by his fingerprints.
John Abraham Choken, 40, of Winnipeg, faces several charges, including possession of a forged document, possession of a weapon, and identity theft.
Choken was also processed on an outstanding warrant in an attempted stabbing in the 200 block fo Edmonton Street on April 18. He faces additional charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
