Three separate $1 million lottery prizes were won in Winnipeg earlier this month.

Jamie Loewen and Aaron Hemminger each won a $1 million Maxmillions prize from the Lotto Max draw on May 18, while siblings Steven Gorman and Charlene Kletke won their million dollars on that same night’s Western Max draw.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation says the three wins are Manitoba’s fifth, sixth and seventh million-dollar lottery wins of 2018.

Loewen said he plans to use some of his windfall to buy a newer vehicle and save for his kids’ educations. He also plans to buy a house where each of his kids can have their own room.

Hemminger isn’t quite sure what he plans to do with his winnings yet.

In a statement, he said, “I’ve got a lot to think about, and a lot of people to talk to. When you think about winning the lottery, you think about cars and trips and stuff like that. But now, I’m thinking about how I can use it to change our lives forever. It’s not just a prize. It’s an opportunity.”

Gorman plans on buying a new truck, while sister Charlene says she’s going to “sit and think about it for a while.”

“I know it’s going to make my life easier,” she said.

Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot is a record-breaking estimated $60 million plus an estimated 50 Maxmillions draws for $1 million each.
