The Winnipeg Goldeyes have placed first baseman/designated hitter David Bergin on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting his release.
The team says Bergin has been diagnosed with a broken hamate bone in his right hand.
He was hitting .250 with one home run and five RBI in nine games played this season. Bergin was also the American Association’s 2017 Postseason All-Star DH after hitting .323 with 20 home runs and 77 RBI in 100 games.
Wednesday night’s game between the Goldeyes and Lincoln Saltdogs was postponed due to rain and will be played today as part of a double-header beginning at 11:05 a.m. Both games are set for seven innings.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and the Goldeyes box office.
