WINNIPEG — The Independent Investigation Unit is looking into allegations an off-duty police officer injured a 32-year-old man and caused hearing loss.
The complaint was brought forward on April 10, 2018, alleging that the man was injured during an arrest on March 27, 2017. The IIU says it’s alleged an off-duty officer punched and kneed him, causing a number of head injuries. The suspect was released without charges and sought medical attention.
The IIU was monitoring the WPS investigation into the incident and learned of the man sustaining permanent hearing loss.
No further details are being released as the investigation continues.
