Contraband Seized at Stony Mountain Institution Worth $127K

Correctional officers at Stony Mountain Institution have made the most significant contraband seizure in the jail’s history.

Officers found the package on May 31 at around 10 a.m. on the perimeter of the institution’s medium security unit.

It contained methamphetamine, cocaine, THC concentrate, hashish oil, marijuana, and hydromorphone. The estimated value is more than $127,500.

The Correctional Service of Canada says police have been notified and the institution in investigating.

The CSC uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions, such as ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
