Ride-sharing service TappCar will soon be expanding to Steinbach after testing the waters this past week to gauge interest in the southeastern Manitoba city.
The Edmonton-based company says it has received an “overwhelming response” for driver applications through its website.
“There is obviously a huge appetite for rideshare in Steinbach and TappCar is going to answer the call,” TappCar spokesperson John Morris said.
“Steinbach is growing at a rapid pace and that growth has created a large demand for better transportation options. We see this as a tremendous opportunity for both TappCar and Steinbach.”
TappCar says it’s aiming to have its drivers on the road by Canada Day, but an exact launch date hasn’t been set.
TappCar launched in Winnipeg in March after the province introduced legislation that would give individual municipalities the power to regulate such services.
