A 30-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer after Winnipeg police responded to a disturbance in the 800 of Simcoe Street on Tuesday night.
Officers arrived at around 9:20 p.m., where the suspect slightly opened the door and fired off pepper spray at two officers. They pulled back with minimal effects and called in the tactical support team.
At around 10:15 p.m., the male suspect was taken into custody.
Justin Robert Cooney has also been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and weapon possession. He remains in custody.
