The driver of a gravel truck was killed Tuesday when his vehicle was hit by a CP Rail train west of Winnipeg.
The accident happened at around 9:10 a.m. on Two Mile Road, approximately five kilometres northeast of Poplar Point, in the RM of St. Francois Xavier.
RCMP say the 55-year-old male driver, from High Bluff, Manitoba, was travelling eastbound and approached the rail crossing when the truck was hit by the northeast train.
The driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol is not a factor in the collision. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, police say.
RCMP and CP police continue to investigate.
