‘Project Return’ Locates Eight Missing, At-Risk Youths

Winnipeg Police CrestA joint effort by Winnipeg police and community agencies helped to locate eight missing, at-risk youths last Friday.

Project Return included assistance from StreetReach, Winnipeg Outreach Network, Resources Assistance for Youth (RAY), MaMaWi, and the Bear Clan Patrol.

Police say the located youth were transferred to a safe place. Two of those found were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Project Return also identified eight contacts to assist those involved in the sex trade, 63 contacts of both youths and adults were made by partner agencies, who provided various supplies including harm reduction kits/food and/or clothing.

Police also checked 55 locations known to be frequented by high-risk missing youths. Fourteen referrals were provided to partner agencies.
