Two men are facing charges after they allegedly carjacked and robbed a driver Monday night in the area of Stella Avenue and McGregor Street.
Winnipeg police say the 28-year-old male victim was stopped in his vehicle at around 9:50 p.m. when three men approached him. One of them was armed with a sawed-off rifle and ordered the man out of his vehicle.
They took his keys and personal property before fleeing in the vehicle, according to police.
Officers on patrol early the next morning spotted the vehicle in the lane in the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue. One male suspect was seen exiting the passenger seat and arrested at the scene. He was also in possession of bear spray.
A second suspect was arrested at around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday when officers noticed him in a dispute with a taxicab driver in the 700 block of Flora Avenue. They attempted to intervene when the man tried to run, but tripped and fell when his .22 calibre sawed-off rifle fell down his pang leg.
He was arrested and found to be carrying items stolen from the victim the previous night.
Caleb Joshua Johnston, 29, and Brandon Lee McKay, 25, face numerous weapons and robbery charges. They remain in custody.
