Get rid of your unwanted firearms by calling the police non-emergency number.
Winnipeg Police say they continue to encourage anyone who wishes to safely get rid of a firearm to contact them to do so.
The 2018 Gun Amnesty allows people to voluntarily turn in all types of weapons, including pellet guns and ammunition.
“Citizens interested in having unwanted, unregistered, or illegal firearms or ammunition safely and legally removed from their homes are asked to call the local police service’s non-emergency number,” said police.
“You will be asked to provide some information about the item and officers will arrange a pickup time. Items will be safely disposed of. Citizens are asked not to attend police stations in person with the firearms or ammunition for everyone’s safety.”
Charges won’t be laid against people unless the weapon was used to commit a crime or was stolen.
