Winnipeg police officers witnessed what they say was a drug transaction by a man riding a bike on Monday evening.
Police were in the area of Powers Street and Magnus Avenue at around 6:40 p.m. and began to pursue the suspect. He immediately fled and was found on the roof of a detached garage in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.
Police removed the man from the structure — who they say resisted them — and took him into custody.
Darrick Wallace Desmarais, 31, faces several drug charges, as well as resisting a peace officer.
Police also found 7.34 grams of methamphetamine, four Xanax pills, 13 Percocet pills, $120 in cash, two cans of bear spray, packaging materials and a scale.
Desmarais remains in custody.
