Delta 9 CannabisThe Manitoba government has reached a deal with Delta 9, the province’s first federally-regulated medical marijuana producer, to receive a minimum 2.3 million grams of cannabis once it becomes legal this fall.

The Winnipeg-based company will work with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries to supply Manitoba retailers with a number of Delta 9’s products.

“We are obviously thrilled to have successfully concluded these negotiations,” said John Arbuthnot, CEO of Delta 9.

“We feel Manitoba is the furthest ahead of any Canadian province in terms of being ready for legalization and we also think that Manitoba will provide the best environment for retail sales in Canada.”

Aside from the agreement with the province, Delta 9 will be selling cannabis to other provinces, directly to customers at the company’s network of retail stores, and to customers through its online retail sales portal.

Cannabis will become legal as of October 17, 2018.
