Winnipeg police have laid charges against a man for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography.

Trevor James Pemberton, 39, was arrested Monday after a search warrant was executed at his Winnipeg home. Police were alerted by an outside law enforcement agency that a Winnipeg IP address was sharing images of child pornography.

Pemberton is a researcher at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba and an assistant professor of biochemistry and medical genetics at the University of Manitoba.

The accused remains in custody.
