Damage caused by a dump truck on Thursday has resulted in a lane closure over the Red River Floodway along Highway 59.

A single northbound lane remains open, but the province has closed the other lane as a result of the crash on Oasis Road underneath the bridge.

Alternate routes Highway 8, 9 and 15. Lighter vehicle traffic can also take Henderson Highway, Bird’s Hill Road and PR 206. To access Highway 59 southbound from Oasis Road, motorists should use PR 213 (Garven Road).

The 73-year-old male truck driver is said to have not had his bucket completely down while driving underneath the bridge. RCMP said he suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A detailed inspection and assessment of the damage is being conducted to determine the necessary repairs and a timeframe to reopen both lanes, the province says.
