Prison officials at Stony Mountain Institution have seized contraband worth $12,580 from inmates.

The Correctional Service of Canada says vigilant staff members found a package on July 3 in the prison’s medium security unit.

Seized items included tobacco, steroids, syringes, nicotine gum, a cell phone, and a cell phone charger.

“The CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone,” officials said in a release.

“CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband into correctional institutions.”
