Kickflip your way into summer with free skateboard lessons at The Forks.
From now until August 26, lessons are being offered at the Plaza Skatepark with pros from Sk8 Skate and the Winnipeg Skateboarding Outreach Organization.
“We’re lucky to have this world-class skatepark right in the heart of the city where kids from all neighbourhoods can have free access to this kind of recreation and community, and we’re extremely glad to partner with Sk8 Skates to offer this kind of mentorship to beginners during the summer months,” said Paul Jordan, CEO, The Forks.
Free lessons for beginner boards will run Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Skateboards are provided and no prior skills are necessary.
Participants must bring a helmet with them, but boards and instruction will be provided. The program is available on a first-come, first-served basis by checking in at Sk8 Skates in The Forks Market between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
