WINNIPEG — Kids who play in Sister MacNamara Park earned a slam dunk Monday with the opening of a new basketball court.
The court at 780 Ross Avenue is part of the park’s restoration, featuring new asphalt with court lines, backboards and nets.
“Healthy communities need affordable places to meet and stay fit,” said Mike Pagtakhan, Councillor for Point Douglas.
“Sport is a wonderful way to build neighbourhood comradery and this new basketball court will provide area youth with another option for free recreation.”
Other upgrades to the park include new fencing, upgraded lighting, site furniture, and overall site restoration, including site grading, topsoil, and sod.
The total cost of the renovations was $130,000.
