Winnipeg police didn’t have to look far to make an arrest Thursday night when a man running through the Exchange District slammed into the mirror of their cruiser.
Police were in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Albert Street at around 9:05 p.m. when two men ran through a construction zone. One of them hit the marked cruiser and needed medical assistance.
As police got out to check on the man’s condition, the second man approached the cruiser. While waiting for an ambulance, the first man handed him a clear plastic baggie with a white substance. Both suspects were taken into custody.
Anthony Howdle of Alberta, 48, and Levi Howdle of Flin Flon, 21, have been charged with possession of cocaine. The younger Howdle, who police say is related to the other suspect, also faces charges of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance order.
They remain in custody.
