TappCar spokesperson John Morris says the company has completed tens of thousands of rides in the province as of mid-July.
“Response to our services has been overwhelmingly positive,” Morris said.
More than 30,000 unique “opens” of the app have occurred on smartphones in the last four months.
“MPI’s vehicle-for-hire model is an excellent system that has allowed us to thrive in the Manitoba market,” Morris added. “MPI’s insurance program is extremely affordable for our operators and provides them with the scheduling flexibility they require.”
Uber — which is not available yet in Manitoba — released similar numbers on July 10, reporting 29,616 individuals in Winnipeg have opened the Uber app looking for a ride since March 2018.
