A vehicle was reported stolen from outside a business in Creighton, Saskatchewan on July 31, with reports it was headed toward Flin Flon.

RCMP from both the Creighton and Flin Flon detachments coordinated their efforts in stopping the vehicle and rescuing the child.

Police say their pursuit ended outside of Cranberry Portage when a spike belt stopped the vehicle. The driver got out and fled into a nearby bush, but was eventually located. Police also rescued the girl — who was uninjured — and reunited her with her mother.

The driver was found under a vehicle in an outbuilding and sustained injuries from a police dog bite and from the collision. He was treated and released into the custody of RCMP in Saskatchewan.

Terrance Charles Nickerson, 42, from Medicine Hat, Alberta faces several charges, including kidnapping and abduction of a person under 16.
