It’s a homecoming of sorts for the Boler trailer — first introduced in Winnipeg in 1968 — as the fibreglass camper marks 50 years.

Boler owners from across Canada and the United States will haul their rides to a huge campground-like setting to mark the occasion next week.

Red River Exhibition Park will act as the headquarters for the celebrations August 15-18, with a variety of old and new models showcased.

Hundreds of trailers from across the continent will begin making their journeys to the city today in seven caravans starting on the east and west coasts of Canada and across the U.S.

Planned activities include mass ukulele lessons, multiple workshops, guest speakers, a wine and cheese social sponsored by Bothwell Cheese, a beef on a bun dinner sponsored by Peavey Mart, nightly entertainment on the Oliver Travel Trailer stage, and great giveaways including Shady Boy awnings for those participating in the event.

The public can visit the park on Saturday, August 18 to tour the trailers and meet the owners.

Information on the routes and stopovers is available by visiting MyBoler.com, while merchandise to mark the event can be purchased on-site or online at Boler50.com.
