Brandon Man Assaults Girlfriend, Fires Gun Out Window: Police

Brandon Police Service CrestA 19-year-old Brandon is facing nearly a dozen charges after police say he assaulted his girlfriend on Thursday

Police say the man allegedly punched her in the head, choked her and kneed her in the stomach while dragging her to her car. He then took out a gun and pointed it at the victim before firing a couple rounds out the window.

The man then forced the woman to drive him to another residence in the city.

Investigators found a spent shell casing at 10th Street and Louise Avenue, which they believe is related to the incident. Police were also able to locate the .22 calibre handgun.

The man has been charged with several firearms offences, uttering threats, three counts of assault, forcible confinement and other offences. He remains in custody.
