A 22-year-old man is accused of carrying a handgun-style pellet gun into Polo Park Shopping Centre on Friday morning.
Winnipeg police were called to the mall at around 10:30 a.m. and began chasing the suspect through The Bay and into the adjacent parking lot.
Police say the man had stolen a pair of shoes from a nearby business and then attempted to steal a locked bicycle using bolt cutters. When he was confronted by a bystander, police say he took out the pellet gun and pointed it at the person. The suspect then fled on foot before being arrested.
The man, who police haven’t named, is facing weapons, theft and mischief charges.
