Winnipeg Police CrestA summer crime spree has come to an end for a Winnipeg woman, accused of robbing liquor stores and several other retailers within the past two months.

Between June 15 and August 27, police say the woman was responsible for hitting various Liquor Mart locations in Winnipeg and leaving without paying. Approximately $3,760 in liquor was stolen in 19 incidents.

The same suspect is accused of walking into several retailers and selecting merchandise before walking out without paying. The robberies occurred in the 600 block of Empress Street on August 4, and in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road on September 10 and 17. In the first robbery, the suspect had a female accomplice with her. One of the women threatened an employee with a metal pipe before they fled.

In the second incident, police say the woman threatened security staff who tried to intervene, showing off a knife and claiming she had bear spray. In the last incident, the accused tried to dash with $200 in merchandise, but was arrested by security.

Officers later responded and placed her into custody.

Alycia Yvonne Leitch, 25, has been charged with numerous theft and robbery-related offences.
