Police Watchdog Investigating After Man Receives Punches to the Face

The Independent Investigation Unit has been called in after an altercation between a man and an RCMP officer in Thompson, Manitoba.

Two officers responded to a call on September 12 about an intoxicated female. Once police arrived, an altercation began between one of the officers and a bystander, in which the man was punched several times in the face.

Surveillance video of the incident has been provided to the IIU on behalf of the RCMP.

The IIU says the man didn’t suffer any serious injuries, but the agency will still investigate.
