WINNIPEG — Traffic delays are expected on Saturday along the Perimeter Highway and Highway 59 for the World’s Largest Truck Convoy.
The annual Special Olympics event is a project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run working in conjunction with members of the trucking industry to raise funds and awareness.
Last year’s convoy saw 188 trucks participate and raised $78,000 for Special Olympics Manitoba. The convoy has raised more than $500,000 to date.
Saturday’s convoy will begin at the Trans Canada Centre in Ile Des Chenes at 11 a.m. Participants will convoy northbound on Highway 59, continue around the Perimeter Highway and return to Ile Des Chenes. The convoy is expecting 200 trucks this year and will last approximately 90 minutes.
