RCMP in Northern Manitoba Investigate Attempted Child Abduction

RCMP in Cross Lake, Manitoba are looking for a man who tried to abduct a child while she left a playground.

Police say on September 12, the nine-year-old girl noticed a black pickup truck parked on the street in the Natamik area of the community. As she walked by the truck, the driver knocked on his window and offered the girl a chocolate bar. He then took her arm and tried to pull her into the truck.

The girl was able to get away and ran to a nearby family member’s house.

The suspect is described as Indigenous and in his 50s. He had wrinkled skin, a large nose, dark black eyes and shoulder-length black hair. He was wearing a black sweater with no hood, jeans and shoes that were orange on the bottom. He also had a white discolouration on his hands and fingers.

The truck is described as an older black pickup truck.
