A four-year-old child drowned Thursday night in St. Theresa Point First Nation after going missing earlier in the evening.
RCMP were called by safety officers in the community for a presumed drowning shortly after midnight Friday.
The child was last seen at around 4:40 p.m. close to a family member’s residence.
Community members and safety officers conducted a ground search and located the child’s body on the east shore. He was taken to the nursing station where he was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy is being scheduled and RCMP continue to investigate.
