Two people were sent to hospital in stable condition Monday after a fire in the 100 block of McLaughlin Avenue.

Crews responded to a blaze in a one and a half-storey Silver Heights home at around 6:30 p.m. to find extensive smoke throughout the residence. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says the fire extended between the attic and upper floor.

All occupants self-evacuated, but an on-scene medical assessment later sent the two people to hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no damage estimate is available.
