UPDATE: Wednesday, October 17 — RCMP have charged the teen with carring a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition. He remains in custody.

A Manitoba school was placed into lockdown Tuesday after reports of an armed student.
RCMP responded to Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School at around 11 a.m. and found a student with a firearm and ammunition in his backpack.
The 17-year-old boy was taken into custody without incident and police seized the weapon and ammo.
No students or staff were injured and the lockdown has been lifted.
Police are continuing to investigate and expect to lay charges.
