Two people were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday while meeting someone they met online to purchase a cell phone.
Winnipeg police say it’s the second such incident within the past week where a potential buyer was confronted by someone they met online.
Two males, aged 17 and 20, met with the seller in the 200 block of Young Street at around 10:45 p.m. Once they arrived, several other males showed up armed with firearms and machetes. The suspects pointed the guns at the pair and demanded their car keys. Once inside their vehicle, the suspects stole money and then returned the keys and ordered the would-be buyers to leave while still pointing guns at them.
Neither of the two males was injured.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
