Two Winnipeg police officers suffered minor injuries Thursday while trying to stop a man driving a stolen vehicle.
The K9 unit spotted the vehicle at around 12:45 a.m. in the area of Burrows Avenue and McGregor Street. Other officers arrived and were able to contain the suspect on the Arlington Street Bridge.
That’s when the driver rammed a police cruiser before being taken into custody.
Police searched the vehicle and found a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun with a defaced serial number and 18 12-gauge shotgun shells.
Skylar Andrew McPherson of Winnipeg, 25, has been charged with numerous weapons offences, as well as charges stemming from three outstanding arrest warrants for robbery, and failing to comply with a probation order.
He remains in custody.
The involved officers were treated and released from hospital.
